1. Use energy efficient lighting
2. Make use of gray water for the garden

5. Use low water usage washing machine
6. Turn lights off when you are not using them
7. Turn off appliances and unplug them when not in use
8. Make sure your appliances are maintained properly so they use less energy
9. Use energy efficient windows - such as having them tinted to cut back on cooling
10. Turn down your hot water heating settings
There are other alternatives you can consider to help you prevent and reduce global warming. Some of the smallest, simplest things you do in your home can make a very big difference.
For example, you could use genetically engineered wood to build a deck, playhouse for the kids or other wood structure. This wood is better for the environment, reduces the destruction of forestry through new wood and in many cases is even better as it reduces rotting and decay.
Another option is to use spray foam insulation in your new or remodeled home. This is better for the environment as well as for the people installing it. It will increase the effectiveness of the insulation in your home and help you save on heating and cooling costs as well. It will also help increase the efficiency of your home, giving more benefit.
Lots of stores are now promoting products for the home that are more energy efficient or better for the environment, such as eco friendly cleaning products or energy saving light bulbs. While it may require some changes to your typical shopping habits, it is well worth it when you see the benefits. With so many new products out there to make it ever easier for you, there is really no excuse not to do your part to help reduce global warming.
You can choose healthy habits such as not washing clothes or using the dishwasher until there is a full load. These are lots of ways you can make an effort to help reduce global warming. Not all changes have to cost a lot of money and they can actually be very beneficial to you because it can help you save money as well.
